How often should an EICR be carried out?
An EICR should be undertaken at regular intervals where proof is required to show an owner, landlord and tenant that an electrical installation within a property, is in a fully safe condition for habitation. A risk based approach should always be adopted and circumstances can differ, but the following guidelines are useful:
Change of ownership/tenancy - immediately, before new tenant moves in
Privately rented dwellings - every 5 years
General - every 10 years
